Chris Eubank Jr and Kell Brook step up war of words over Gennady Golovkin fight

Sky Sports

Chris Eubank Jr and Kell Brook became embroiled in a war of words on social media on Saturday, as the fall-out to Brook’s highly-anticipated Sky Sports Box Office fight with Gennady Golovkin continued.

British champion Eubank Jr was expected to fight Golovkin, but weeks of contract talks did not result in an agreement, allowing Brook to jump the queue.

The WBA Super, WBC and IBF world middleweight champion Golovkin tweeted: ‘Up early, time to run. #Respect to @SpecialKBrook for taking this fight. Excited to show the #UK who I am.’

But Eubank Jr took exception to the Kazakh’s post and replied: ‘@GGGBoxing You’re so called P4P but fighting a guy 2 weight divisions below u!? Nobody in the UK or anywhere else is going to respect you.’

He continued: ‘@GGGBoxing after you’re done bullying @SpecialKBrook & you’re ready for a fight with a real middleweight, I’ll be there #PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSize’

Brook himself then weighed in, posting: ‘@ChrisEubankJr you never wanted the fight I’ll show you how to deal with @GGGBoxing’.

Kell Brook will challenge for Gennady Golovkin’s world middleweight titles on September 10 at London’s 02 Arena, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
