Paul Merson has picked his Fantasy Six-a-Side team for Sunderland v Middlesbrough, backing Jermain Defoe to deliver again for the Black Cats.
The 33-year-old almost earned his side a surprise point at Manchester City on the opening weekend and is Merson’s Elite Player pick, selected ahead of Stewart Downing, Patrick van Aanholt and Alvaro Negredo, who has also already opened his account.
There’s £5,000 up for grabs via Fantasy Six-a-Side in Super Sunday’s early game and here’s who Merse advises you consider for your VI…
Jermain Defoe – I think there are goals to be had at the Stadium of Light. I’m going for a wide-open game and Defoe is a goalscorer and he will always get in my team.
Gaston Ramirez – He makes things happen and he was very good in a man-of-the-match performance last week.
Albert Adomah – I don’t like putting defenders in! He’s another attacker and I think he’ll be involved if there is goals in this game.
Wahbi Khazri – He scored a worldie last season, and he’s another forward-thinking player who will be heavily involved.
Adnan Januzaj – In case you didn’t realise, I think forwards will get the better of defenders in this game!
Fabio Borini – He’s another player I like and fancy him to grab a goal if given the chance. If I thought the game would be 0-0 I’d have put more defenders in, but I don’t see anything but goals at the Stadium of Light.
